Operation Groundswell is a volunteer-travel experience unlike any other.
Our mission is to engage the next generation of leaders by providing off-the-beaten-path travel opportunities to the developing world. Participants learn first-hand by becoming immersed in local communities and cultures through a mixture of group volunteer projects and independent backpacking.
Our trips expose the challenges facing foreign aid, development, travel and volunteering. Employing a consensus-based decision-making approach, our programs foster personal growth because our goal is to facilitate the experience not manufacture it.

Operation Groundswell wants more young adults to step outside their comfort zones and explore the world.
Our programs expose participants to the harsh realities and rich knowledge base found throughout everyday life in the developing world. In showing the ground-level perspective, we ultimately hope to foster cross-cultural dialogue through engagement between the participants and our partner communities.
Founded in 2006 by two students desiring a more responsible and sustainable way to travel, Operation Groundswell is run by youth for youth. We are like you – young, ambitious, globally-minded and most importantly, searching for a way to positively impact the world.
