A Day in the Life of Tibetan Buddhist Nuns

This past summer, our India: Gender & Religion teams had the opportunity to see the self-sustaining monastery at Dolma Ling Nunnery and Institute in the Kangra valley near Dharamsala, northern India. Officially inaugurated by His Holiness the Dalai Lama back in 2005 and fully funded by the Tibetan Nuns Project, the nunnery is the first institute dedicated specifically to higher Buddhist education for Tibetan Buddhist nuns from all traditions.

After seeing their incredible work, our teams decided to use the funds raised for our Community Contributions to sponsor two nuns – Sonam Dolma and Khamo Tsering – at the Dolma Ling Nunnery. We are so excited to support an organization that is mobilizing a whole new generation of female teachers and scholars!
