Sandema welcomes OGWAD 2010

Hello everyone from the beautiful Upper East region!

After 4 nights in Kumasi, we scavenged the Kejetia market, played some football and got to know each other pretty well. Also, we had the pleasure of not one but two nights at Cadillac, one of Kumasi’s coolest music venues. Though we still miss the jewel in the Ashanti crown, we were ready to go onto Sandema, enduring the 10 hour bus ride it took to get here.

Upon arrival, everyone was so exhausted, but we hit the ground running the next day, getting a feel for the town, its one internet cafe, the local borehole (water pump) and the market. Then, we finally got to meet Joe and the boys from HCC, where we watched as the Germans just squeaked by the Black Stars 1-0, putting some of us in a precarious position when Ghana meets the US on Saturday.

Battling homesicknesses and illnesses, Northern Ghana is not all fun and games, but we got an awesome group behind us this year, we have a lot of great project ideas and are fully poised to make this the best OGWAD ever!

From Sandema with love,

The OGWAD Team
